HOSNI MUBARAK - GONE, GONE GONE!

Hosni Mubarak
UPDATE!

HOSNI MUBARAK RESIGNS AND GOES TO SEE HIS VETERINARIAN!

"What is it with old men and power," asks a friend annoyed by the intransigence of 82-year-old Hosni Mubarak. We ponder the answer to this question as we watch the Egyptian dictator deliver one of the more condescending speeches in recent history.

Calling himself their 'father' he admonishes the protesters to go home like good little boys and girls.

Dad refuses to resign; his 'children' refuse to leave Tahir Square - except that is to walk towards Mubarak's palace where it is said, he lives in the kind of luxury that billions of dollars of the people's money allows.

"And there's Robert Mugabe," says my friend glumly. "That old bastard turns 87 this month."

Mubarak rambles on as we consider the ruin that is the economy of Zimbabwe.

"Let's not forget Dick Cheney," I offer. "He's a relative youngster at 70ish, but he's getting up there and he won't shut up. Just the other day he nattered on about what a good friend Mubarak was to the US. And he still thinks water boarding is peachy."

"It's a conspiracy," says my friend. "The viagra cialis online pharmacy pharmacy company is behind it. Without Viagra these old dudes wouldn't have the energy to ruin countries and start wars."

We consider this possibility while Mubarak drones on.

Sami, the wonder cat (he was initially named after Sammy Sosa until the home run hitter began failing drug tests; he is now named for Sami Salo, the Canucks defenceman) wakes up and heads for his food dish, his tummy swaying gently. His 16 years permit him to enjoy being a portly gentleman.

"You know," I say, watching Sami waddle across the floor. "When Sami was very young, I took him to the vet and he got neutered. It took about three months for the testosterone to leave his system and that's when he stopped beating up my other cat."

We listen to Mubarak make a few more inane comments.

"I doubt he'd agree to go to the vet," says my friend.
